Yes, it really is creepy sounding, haha but I'm quite sure I know what it is.
For sure it's a feline, either a bobcat or cougar, yes, I know, big difference... :-D
More likely a cougar or particularly large bobcat though, it sounds kinda large, but if it's a cougar it's likely a juvenile, probably calling for it's mother.
I used to live in the woods, not super deep but enough to hear all these cool noises.
I know that it kinda sounds like a bird, but unless you live somewhere like Australia or Southafrica, I doubt it is; most birds that sound like that aren't nocturnal in my experience.
Aside from keeping pets inside at night, I think you will be fine especially if you take a flashlight with you when you go out there past 9 P.M. or so.
