In the middle of Laurelhurst park in Portland, Oregon, there's a big metal grate that makes this satisfying hum. I didn't think much of it at the moment, but I recorded it in between trying to capture the sound of some ducks. I revisited this sound, and discovered it has a harsh, dissonant, drone quality that I enjoy. After a few seconds the sound began to evolve like opening a filter on a synth.
