Ambient field recording at a street-rod "burnout" elimination event. The hot-rod starts nearby, moves about 30m to the staging area, and commences "burnout" along a special burnout "track" about 80m away with huge crowds of spectators breathing in the huge clouds of tyre smoke (hear cheering at end of burnout).

The rules of the "Burnout" competition are allowance of two to 4 minutes only. Instant tire spinning smoke, continuous and copious smoke, and manouevering within the track in a doughnut and figure 8 pattern, without stopping or crashing into the concrete barriers, or (heaven forbid) blowing up the screaming souped-up V-8 engine. Extra merit is given if both rear tyres are worn through and explode!
