Recorded with Tascam DR-05 with in-built microphones April 2013 at the local round of the New South Wales/ACT State Hillclimb Championship Series, Fairbairn Hillclimb Circuit, Canberra.

Vintage Formula ??? Race Car with in-line General Motors 6-cylinder race prepared engine, midships, chassis reminded me of 1960’s Formula Aus racecar, open-wheel, about size of Formula Ford but longer. Engine was a General Motors Holdens 6-cyl inline donk from a road sedan. This engine was built in Australia from just after WW2 until the late 1980’s and is very similar, if not almost identical, in design to the GM Chevrolet 6-cylinder engine of the same era.
The smooth sounding engine featured race-strong interals, wild camshaft profiles, triple Webber twin side-draft race carburettors, and straight open exhaust headers out the rear, overtop a Hewland straight cut race gearbox in the rear.

The car approaches the starting line, does a quick burnout to warm the drive-tyres, and waits for the GO light, and speeds off on the hill climb course. (One car on race circuit at a time.)

Ah, such blissful burble and a throaty roar. Reminds me that a well turned out GM in-line six makes my classic XK40 straight six sound like a sewing machine with aspirations of grandeur.

Nice fidelity, dude. Mega useful as a game asset.
