Very close up and clear. My microphone was placed against kitty cats throat and chest and nose. The sounds are real and beautiful, clear, relaxing. Purring and snoring and breathing. There are two sounds I also blended together to make it sound like there are two cats, if you need that, it could work out for you pretty good. But it also can sound like one kitty because they tend to purr sometimes in different ways.
