A tree falling in my yard. The original recording was a bit bland and lacked the detail I wanted, mostly because of the wide dynamic range of the tree impact and the distance to my phone. Plus it was the sound track of a video... Took that as the basic track and enhanced the details and the impact. The crackles are sticks, a carrot, and spaghetti with pitch changes to disguise them. and the thud is touching the element of an SM57 with the ball filter removed. Oh, and just a dash or reverb. (the groan is all nature w/compression)
All the hard work was done in Audacity, and the recordings were done on my android phone, and an ancient Mackie 1202 w/the Shure mic thru a DAC in to my Xonar sound card then Audacity.
