Two distinct claps of thunder. The THIRD clap was a once in a lifetime capture as the lightning can be distinctly heard as it splits the nearby air. I recorded this in Flat Rock North Carolina atop Pinnacle Mountain. I've geotagged the location.

Wow, superb! I agree with your "lifetime" comment regarding the 3rd clap. I have never heard anything like that. What equipment were you using?
