where he used an alghorithm to attempt to create whine noise. The result was actually close to theoretical brown noise. I applied a filter (EQ) in Audacity to correct and this is the result, which is closer to white noise.
Before applying the EQ I lowered the volume of the sample so that applying the EQ would not result in clipping. Had to make several attempts by trial and error until I got the right result. Then boosted the volume of the sample back up (normalize).
Details of the EQ applied in Audacity:
0-40Hz gain = 0dB
40Hz-5000Hz gain goes up to 21 dB = approx 3dB/octave
>5000Hz gain = 0dB
