This sound is a monotron beep put through Saro (a free VST amp sim by antti @ smartelectronix).
The monotron is a very simple synth, does not have amplitude or filter envelopes. It can produce clicks on sound start and stop.
When that happens the Saro effect tends to emphasize the clicks. I have left them on, so you have the option of keeping them in or editing the sound to get rid of them.
