does anyone happen to have any anvil strike samples or something similar?

There is AnvilHit.wav but it's rather weak.

You may be able to design a sound by sampling or recording a whacking noise and then decreasing the pitch.

that one is rather useless to me.

i did make my own sound now, by pitching something up and adding lotsa eq. i didn't get 100% what i was looking for (especially since i'll probably need a few different strikes), but i uploaded the files, so lets see how long it takes until they become available.
