Hello,
I'm looking for someone who can do a voiceover for a (short) movie trailer I am making for a student project. It should sound like one of those epic movie trailers in the cinema, so I guess I need a deep male voice. It's not a very serious project, it's more like a parody on those gigantic sounding trailers. Don't know if i'm in the right place though since most of the requests seems to be for samples, so please tell me if i'm wrong.
These are the sentences I need:
[list]
- Once upon a Monday night.
- An innocent game [pause] turned out to be the biggest challenge mankind has ever faced.
- Yløp the movie. (Pronounce Yløp like Ai-lob)
- A story about friendship [pause]
fear [pause]
love [pause]
betrayal [pause]
suffering [pause]
... and worldpeace.
- Will they make it?
- Coming to theater near you soon.
[/list]
I'm happy with anything. Deadline is 20 april. You can contact me here or through bastiaanwaagmeester[@]gmail.com.
Thanks!
annihilating_bas,
Did you check out Audio Drama talk and ask for your request there? I'm sure there are a lot of voice actors who would be willing to help out.
Never heard of that website, but I'm going to check it out. Thanks for the link!
Sorry for the delay...super busy with work.
I've taken a try at it if it helps: http://www.freesound.org/people/tekgnosis/sounds/151266/
Should be moderated within a couple of days!
Thanks! I'm very excited to hear the recording. I'll comment as soon as it gets moderated.

Thank you Tekgnosis, it sound even beter then expected! Also thanks to Timbre for tweaking the sound a bit and making it even more 'epic' ^_^.

Timbre: what's your favourite de-esser?I'm finding that I really struggle with esses, and it's really obvious in most of my recordings.
To reduce the sibilance on your "ailobthemovie" recordings I had to cut back parts of the spectrum using equalization in addition to using a de-esser.
Those extreme measures shouldn’t be necessary.
I think your excessive sibilance is due to your mic being too close and directly in the jetstream from your mouth.
My suggestion would be to put the mic at eye-level (or higher) rather than mouth-level, so the direct airflow from your mouth by-passes the mic rather than hits it directly. Do a series of tests with the mic at increasing distances and saying a sibilant phrase : “eye-level, 20cm from mouth, she sells seashells”, “eye-level, 30cm from mouth, she sells seashells”, etc. At some combination of mic distance/height the sibilance should drop to reasonable levels.
eye level ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S8N2s3L4mQ#t=2m4s
or have the mic to one side ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S8N2s3L4mQ#t=3m17s
Ah, yes. That makes sense. I have it right at mouth-level. I have two pop-shields, one that's single layer, and the other is a dual layer. That helps with the pops/noises quite a bit, but I find that I just seem to have a natural lisp as well.
I'll try that technique out, and play with the volume as well, to try and strike a nice balance between no esses, and a decent input level.
Thanks man!
Haha, thanks mate. I'm surprised about the many responses, it seems like a great community here.
