I tried to find a sample of sand flowing, as in an hourglass, to no avail. Can anyone record this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

sand flowing, as in an hourglass

Does it have to be an hourglass ? They are very quiet. I do have some sand I could experiment with.

You might consider searching for other small particles being poured such as rice or lentils or sugar, like this one:

Hi Benboncan,

No, it doesn't need to be an hourglass, just sand being poured or something similar. smile

Spleencast,

That might do it, specially the more uniform "shh" of the sample. How can I turn that part of the sample into a loop? Osmile

I got curious about how an old trick could work on this and just tested it;
I took about 2.5 seconds of "shh" from the last part of that sample, made a reversed copy of it and pasted it at the end of the original cut; then I pasted the whole a few more times to check for seams but you can just keep the first pair if you can do the loop in real time.
Here's how it sounds.
(If anyone thinks this could be useful for others I might upload it here on Freesound too of course)

Applying resonance filters to white noise produces something similar ... http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=122951
