Hi,

I would appreciate suggestions on recording in the field with battery supply only.

I am going to initially use my MP3 player. Might not be the best device to use, but its simple to start with.
The MP3 player has a built in mic, but its for voice recordings only. It also has a 1/8" jack for stereo mic line-in.
So, I'm interested in inexpensive mic that can convert down to 1/8" stereo mic line-in.

One feature I like with this device is it uses SD cards for storage. Its very easy to copy files from the SD card to my PC.
(as opposed to my minidv camcorder with firewire... It has to play back the video to copy to my PC.)
If you're wondering its a NEX3+ mp3 player. I'm sure recording with a nice microphone will sound a lot better than the voice grade built in microphone. I'm just wondering how best to do this...

What kind of microphone and related equipment is a good recommendation for field recording? and adapting down to stereo 1/8 mic line-in? The only power availabe is battery (what ever the equipment needs) I'm not recording in a studio; no available AC power or really long extension cord. smile

Thanks,

K

Check ou this page, all self powered, not sure about the 1/8 input. Though using adapters should be possible.

Most of my recordings are done with the MS907.
Have a listen and see what you think.
