Hello,
I often am disappointed by my river recordings as they never sound like when I'm there, as if they're much more noisy and less "thumpy" and powerful than in person and with less detail.

Perhaps it's the brain's contextual awareness processing and filtering out the noise that a river makes. Or I don't know.

But rivers, be it a mediumly splashy one or white water, I can't manage to get them right :C

Any ideas for how to record them?
Pickup pattern?
Does ITD with a ORTF or A-B setup help or better to record in XY/MS?
I found recording a splashy part up close to help for a more "detailed" recording, but then that isn't the same as a river as a whole. Also not feasible in some situations.

Feel free to share some of your favourite recordings and how you made them.
Cheers!
