FM modulation is usually more drastic/ noticeable. AM is usually more subtle/softer. Try a PM or phase mod. ||. There also could be an SM mod 😑 (amongst who knows how many other (individually)) but I don't know of a program that has that .. yet. SM you ask?? Speed mod. Which could also be pitch in the sense of modulating a ghost copy 👽👻 well actually, there are vibratos...so..another one could be.. a VM mod...Voltage modulation, but that would be hardware not just software.
