Which audio samples are more prefereable when posting them for free or for sell - raw one (straight from recorder) or processed (compression, noise reduction, gating, etc.)?

In my experience it really depends, if it's sound effects you're recording, you definitely want to process out background noise, as otherwise there would be distracting sounds in the background, leading to a bad recording. However, if you're trying to record ambiance, then you shouldn't process, as ambiance needs all the various background sounds.

That's a good question and downloaders want different things. With drum samples, for example, some users may want them simple and ready to use to throw together for something simple or quick that's going to work alright straight away, or maybe they just aren't adept or interested in the mixing side of production. Others may want them raw to EQ, process, reverb themselves to fit into their music exactly how they want it. All that is to say, there's always going to be complaints: some will not like that a raw sample doesn't already sound slick. Other won't like a sound because you futzed with it. You can provide both, but then there's the idea of clutter. Who knows what to do...

The few recordings I've posted include both. Minimally processed with zits and warts alongside the sound effect I intended to produce when making the recordings. Both pre & post get downloaded but generally the post is downloaded a lot more.

If they're being sold I imagine you need to create an impression "straight out the box" so that would be selling your Chef's cooking skills and imagination rather than raw meat.
