Hello!

I was always intrigued by binaural recording and it's realism (through headphones, of course).

So I decided to make my own binaural setup. It consists of two Clippy EM172 lavalier mics and Zoom H1 recorder.

I bought two mono mics and made a connector to send one mic to the left and other to the right channel since I use lavaliers for interview recordings so it's better to have two mono mics than one stereo.

The mics are awesome and cheap - great s/n ratio and great sensitivity (I mostly have the Zoom on level 37 for interviews).

Same exact capsules are used in this binaural microphone:

So I put them inside some old headphones I had lying around (first I gutted them).

I'll put the link to the sound when it's moderated. This is my first binaural recording, so comments are welcome!

(just a test)

Looking forward to take a listen. I'm curious, is "handling noise" a big problem?

A little bit, but only because of the cables, and I have to be completely still.
It has it's limitations but I like the size and simplicity.

Okay, I guess that's to be expected.
