Hello,
I am at the early stages of a project, which incorporates a sound element. The sound element is a soundscape that needs to be looped, the audio is about an hour, but the site does not have access to power, so I am looking for information or ideas as to the best way to power a device to play the soundscape. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Simon

I'm thinking either portable power generators or USB speakers (which you can use by plugging into a laptop that can run for 2-3 hours). If you need to power PA systems, I have no idea.

Hey what'd you go with for this? If you're still working on this let me suggest:

1. Get a Raspberry Pi (1 or 2, whatever - not Zero tho)
2. Install Raspbian
3. sudo apt-get install sox
4. Login and do something like

$ play thebiglongfile.wav repeat 1000

That says to repeat it 1000 times. "man sox" for more about that.

The audio out on the Pi isn't exactly 'audiophile' quality, but it's usable.

I use Sox *extensively* in the DronesoundTV project, for more on that see this thread http://www.freesound.org/forum/your-work-made-with-freesounds/38621/

Good luck!

Hello unhacker
What I ended up with was someone set up an audino to loop the sound and this was connected to a solar panel with a button to play the sound when pressed. The solar panel was not powerful enough so had to find a way, not very elegantly, to play the sound, so had to use a speaker that played the sound via usb stick. Original plan was to use a wind up power generator.
Your system looks interesting and I may further develop the idea using something along your lines. Thanks for the information.
Simon
