Hello,

In the tv series I Love Lucy, Season 2 Episode 12, at 9:00 minutes (youtube), a clown uses a (special?) plastic (or glass?) tube to make lion sounds. Is anybody familiar with this and knows what it's called or has tips to share how to simulate it? I made an audacity tutorial ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9CZLSaJhl4 ) but am very curious about whether I could do this in analog.

Thanks!

Here is a pack I made using a corrugated cardboard box.

I imagine it might be possile to use a corrugated plastic tube, scrapped against a suitable surface to produce a 'similar' sound.
The kind of plastic tube I am referring to is often used in construction to channel electric cables.
But I have never tried this.

The cardboard box technique is simply scrapping the cardboard box with your fingernails. You quickly get the hang of it in terms of speed and pressure to apply.
Cardboard boxes are easy to find, so this might help you... or not

I want to believe.

Interesting how they came up with that technique, I aught to try this out sometime!
