Greetings,

I have been searching for quite some time for software that will help me play some sound effects. I'm looking for the ability to load in a large number of sounds and play them through different channels on different sound cards on the same computer. So far, I have come up empty handed.

I have traditionally used Mixere (which is wonderful even with its limitations), but I can not find a way to control which physical speaker connection sounds are played from.

My goal is to install several more sound devices to my PC, place speakers in a wide range of locations, and control various sounds in various places.

If anyone has some ideas on this, I would be very interested to hear about them.

TIA

What you need is a soundcard with several 'outs'.
I think soundcards with up to 10 stereo outputs are available.

I want to believe.

What I really need is an effect player which can play sounds on any of those ports instead of just the default stereo. I also need this software to play sounds on different ports from different sound devices.

Look, I do not know what DAW you are using. I do not know if you want to trigger the sounds from your midi keyboard, computer keyboard or have the computer triggering these (randomly, from a sequence you program or a mix of both).
You have not even told us if you are using a PC or Mac.
Without knowing this it is difficul to recommend an effect player that would do what you want.

What I can guarantee, however, is that it will be easier to play sounds through different channels using a multi-channel soundcard than several soundcards. Assuming you even have where to plug all these cards in your computer, it will probably end up being more expensive. Also it is likely to result in all kinds of hardware conflicts. Many DAWs will not even be able tu use more than one soundcard at a time.

I want to believe.
