As said on the title, they're (http://freemusicarchive.org/) going to be closing soon. It's an awesome site and it's sad to see it go away. Are there any other sites similar to it?

An alternative is http://ccmixter.org/

It's like the Freesound for music

Thanks for the notification, adudehere. We already knew about this, but it's great to see that they managed to upload all of their content to archive.org and come to an agreement with this company KitSplit.

I know of KitSplit. Aren't they an equipment self-rental service.

What have they got do do with all of this?

I'm only repeating what I see on the FMA homepage saying that they've come to an agreement with KitSplit: http://freemusicarchive.org/member/cheyenne_h/blog/Free_Music_Archives_new_home_KitSplit

That's really interesting actually. Looks like they are trying to branch out a bit.

Don't see KitSplit making money directly from FMA, but for the cost of a bit of server space and minimal support it does bring KitSplit to the attention of a wide and very pertinent audience.

So marketing value really. Many FMA users will be into film making so the extra clicks are probably more relevant and cheaper than paying Google etc.

Now you said it like that, it does make sense. It's about publicity isn't it.
