Im creating a game and I intend to use some sounds that are under the Zero or Attribution lisenses.

As i understood these two lisenses give me the option to use the sounds as i want. Providing that i give the proper credits to the original creators. Right?

But... can i also modify the sounds? Even giving the credits?

Hi, most of the times you are absolutely free to modify available sounds here; the only option that prevents you from doing that is the "No Derivatives" clause of the Creative Commons licenses, but I think that's hardly used here, if ever.

So, if you focus on Zero or Attribution licenses, you'll have no problems at all.

If you modify/mix sounds for your purposes, you can also upload them here and use a nice Freesound feature: marking your sounds as remix of the originals; the sounds page will have a link named "Remixes and Sources" that points to a graph that looks like this.

It isn't a requirement, but it'd be great if you did!

But. Can you sell this modified sound in a song? I mean, for example, I do a song that cointains some sounds of freesound.org, and after that I sell it. Can I?

Thanks

It depends on the CC license type of the sound in question...

--------

If its "Zero": you can use it commercially without crediting

If its "Attribution": You can use it commercially, but you MUST give credit to the author (even if modified)

If its "Attribution non-commercial": you cannot use it in a product you are selling, and obviously you still need to credit the author in any non-commercial works.

--------

You can always ask the creator if it's ok to use the sound outside of the license they designated though. This is allowed, provided they agree, and you have evidence.
