pls forgive me if this toppic is not new, i'm new...

but i did spend a lot of time looking for some very simple and obvious sound, like breaking a lightbulb. some simple zooms, pops, clicks for flash gui. and i can't find them. i found lots of fantastic sounds for various kinds of MUSIC, but... almost nothing usable in a flash website. yes, i've tried google. millions links about actionscript, animation, graphics...

when i need a stock photo (or drawing) of anything, there's no problem. when i need a simple sound - all google finds are sites with more commercials than content telling me to pay big money for sounds i don't even have a chance to test, search and such. what's more, most of them are stupid samples from tv shows. (the same is with fonts, but after ca 6 hours of searching i've found someone's font directory in zips, hundreds of them, all helveticas-condensed and such).

i don't know where do people get sound for their flash movies, websites and applications.

i thought The Freesound Project could be the place, but i can't find what i'm looking for. i've done most of sound for my site myself.

somebody help me or i'll break some lightbulbs today to get my sound of broken flash button :/

hello jim,

you should consider this site is built by volunteers in their free time ( and some professionals in their free time as well ). Perhaps try to describe the sound(s) you are looking for better?

There's almost 18000 sounds on the website, did you do a long search before you came to the conclusion that the sound you wre looking for doesn't exist here? wink

also, remember the VERY imnportant fact that this site ONLY has material which is recorded by people themselves, not audio from copyrighted libraries! This is what makes freesound so special!

cheers,

- bram

or ask for a sound to be created and more than likely someone here will do just that for you.

Or break those light bulbs and share them with us, that would be even better!

Perhaps the small blips and bleeps you seek are within some of the longer sounds, try thinking outside the box and look for sounds that may contain snippets of what you need. I know a lot of the "free" sounds I downloaded since the 90's are now in commerical collections because people were downloading them and selling them on Ebay and stuff... but there are still lots of free sounds out there, it's just the copyright problems that may complicate the use of them... Have you checked out my sample packs? http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/packsView.php I have tons of bleeps, bloops, drips, and snippets... there are LOTS of others on here also by other members, good luck in your search...
