i was just wondering who is actively involved in operating this site. what i mean by "actively involved" is one who creates and maintains code, moderates samples, and/or runs webservers. i can tell that you are "the almighty root" smile bram, but that is just a screen name . . .

there are two reasons for my asking: 1) i want to say THANK YOU for such a great tool for audio artists/enthusiasts/workers! and 2) i was wondering if there was anything i could do to help, (or if you even really need / can manage any help). i have so many ideas (from simple to off-the-wall stupid crazy) and i have working knowledge of php / mysql / linux and also knowledge of digital audio (i have an associates degree in audio engineering and soon a bachelors in IT network focus).

the main point is i was wandering how the project is maintained and managed and what the channels are for one who seeks to help.

yup it's me...

well, one of The Moderators had already noticed your active envolvement here. to be honest I don't really need php/... help right now, but just active people. There's 4 sound moderators right now and that's enough as well. What we really want is more content to moderate grin If we need more moderators I'll definitely consider you.

However! If you have good (feasable!!) ideas, let me know. My email address is on the contact page (no spam-bot you're not getting it), but perhaps it's even better to discuss additions to freesound on the forum so everyone can enjoy them.

One of the things I would like to add for future competitions is a 'themes' thing. Like "insects talking", "wind blowing", ... themes where people can add their sounds to these themes. And then run competitions inside these themes. (who makes the best synthetic wind-sound? who was able to really capture insects talking?)

cheers,

- bram

Yes, bravo for a beautifully done site: the organization, functionality and the efficient data base. Much zapping fun.The remix pages will certainly become more important as the db grows!

cool! that's exactly what i was trying to get a feel for. my coding / network skills are still developing, and i currently wouldn't have enough time to commit to that sort of responsibilty anyway. i do, however constantly create / play with sound, so contributing is easy smile

i agree that it is better to post ideas for new features / improvements to the board so everyone can contribute ideas.

hello anton smile
