I noticed a bunch of sounds on Freesound somehow got removed. Right when I checked the sound page, I saw that the number of sounds went from hundreds of thousands to just thousands. Luckily, none of the sounds I uploaded didn't get purged.

Was there any reason for this sudden purge?

There wasn't a "purge" don't worry. I'm not sure what happened to show that number, but all is fine.

I wasn't sure how to describe the disappearances of a lot of sounds at the time, so I just assumed there was a "purge" because of database reasons.

It's nice to see all those sounds back because this website is an excellent resource for free royalty-free sound effects.

Admittedly, I didn't know the reason when I replied to you. But now we know since Frederic has explained the odd occurrence. I think I saw you reply in that thread so I presume you've seen the explanation.
