Hi everyone,

This is a discussion thread about our Freesound Taxonomies web experiment.

The Freesound Taxonomies experiment is a listening test in which you are asked to categorize a number of sounds into a set of "categories". These categories belong to a new taxonomy that we are designing to aid the sound description process in Freesound. The purpose of the experiment is to understand whether or not our taxonomy is clear and understandable for a general audience, and how suitable it is for being integrated with Freesound. Your participation will help us to enhance the sound description process in Freesound, to improve our understanding on audio taxonomies and, more generally, to improve audio analysis in Freesound.

Your input is valuable to us and we appreciate your effort in completing the experiment. It should not take more than 15-20 minutes. To participate in the experiment please follow this link: https://fstaxonomies.upf.edu/

Thanks,
Penny

I've done the experiment and think the sound categories are good overall.

Hi all,

@strangehorizon, thank you for contributing by doing the experiment and we really appreciate your positive feedback.

@klankbeeld, thanks for seeing the potential of an application like this in Freesound. The categorization of sounds is indeed one of the steps we are testing as part of our efforts to enhance the tagging and overall sound description and retrieval in Freesound.

@kevp888, we are happy to hear you enjoyed the process! Each iteration of the experiment from the same device assigns new sounds to the user, so your big contribution is important for us.

Let us know if you have any further thoughts or questions.

I did and then the page tried to install automatically a download on my PC.

I think, its a dangerous website.

To FREESOUND: PLEASE CHECK THIS PAGE!
If I am wrong, ok. If I am right, please delete this link here immediately.

Bro .This site does not install anything of what you mentioned in your saying, it is a site dedicated to searching for free sound effects in mp3 format and does not contain any of the pop-up ads

I m sorry, but I dont understand your meaning.

"This IS what heppen
To me when i visite sound Searcher website"
Thats no visit on SoundSearcher, thats a visit on Youtube.

Then your saying is "No problem with me".
Sorry once more, but where is here the connection? I do not recognize any connection. Again unintelligible.

Checking the own page is quite simple: Another PC, checking the own page (or simply a friend) and you know the result. Where is there any difficulty?

At the end: I really don't mean any harm, but please leave out the "bro". This may be due to different cultural backgrounds. But I feel that this is inappropriate/encroaching.

Kind regards

Seelengold
