Congratulations to those involved in moderating the uploaded sound files! Turnaround has been very timely the past few weeks (from minutes to <24 hours).

Well done!

Thanks for your acknowledgement. I've passed the message on privately smile

I'm also waiting for mods to approve my songs. My comment too. Don't know how long to wait.

Any user waiting for moderation might want to go to https://freesound.org/home/sounds/manage/pending_moderation/

It should look similar to this:

It is possible a moderator asked questions to consider before approving but the email notifications didn't reach the user. These questions can be found by following the "See moderation ticket" links.

One can also search their email spam box and inbox for the subject line "[freesound] A Freesound moderator handled your upload" which contains a link to the ticket. There might be many similar emails with different links.

It took over 24 hours for me but that might be because my sound is of an erotic nature.

I have three sounds in moderation for 7 days (uploaded May 14, 2025). The moderation tickets are all unassigned, and there are no messages for me to respond to. How much longer should I expect to wait?

I admire the gargantuan efforts by the moderation team to manually review all of the newly uploaded sounds, but what do you all think about using a local AI / ML for this type of task in order to alleviate the burden on moderators?

Hi,
I'm against AI taking decisions. I think a human moderator should always have the final decision.
However it could help by having a pre-filled response.
Such as detecting a language issue (no English title/tags/description), perhaps transcribe a sound to double check if anything private is being said, pre-fil a "please provide better tags/description" in the case that it's inadequate like "ABC AAA 123" tags and "qdhfifghu" description.

In short, it could be a tool to speed up human moderation, but all tickets ought to be reviewed by someone.
Then we already have template responses buttons for most cases. So I wouldn't foresee much benefits really.

Maybe it could filter and assign types of tickets to different moderators. For example I don't like to handle Music nor NSFW sounds. It could maybe filter out field recording / voice acting foley etc... to me so I can focus on those, and give the NSFW to a moderator more comfortable with that. Then a none-AI solution would be a feature personally hide users. Or a personal blacklist of tags so I wouldn't be assigned tickets with "Sex" tagged in it

Those features might already exist as extensions, maybe a forum post with Freesound resources such as browser extensions / plugins, websites and projets using freesound etc... could be done?

Cheers!

AI is very inaccurate/unaccurate so if we used it it would be diastourous and that's why we need human moderators because automation is bad and evil and harms the envivorment because i heard at the end of 2026 or 2027 ai will have used up 10 trlllion gallons os water i think + ai is kinda bad at recognizing sounds rn so to use ai rn will be even more diastourous

Better to be trash talked about than to not be talked about at all.

I think the only use with AI in this scenario would be a lookup function to find matches to already existing audio. Like a reverse image search for audio and music. That would actually be helpful. I don't think such an AI model exists yet.

I don't believe we should be using AI for communication because it creates a human disconnect. I would hate that as a user.

I do have around ~30 sounds pending moderation since more than one week / 10 days. Usually they get moderated either in 1 day or in 3 days - I am wondering if something happened or how I can help the process - can somebody advice me please?
