Hi Guys, im thinking of buying a Fostex FR-2, any users of this unit around?

I don't know the device.
But the specs look really good...

Although,... 1,5 kg isn't really light weight in my book...
and that plus 8 AA batteries...? I wonder how long they will last if you are useing Phantom power for your mic.... It says nothing about that in the manual when their talking about power consumption.

I believe the 2 hours is with phantom, but your point is valid. And one of my main concerns, however, 12 v battery packs are also becoming available for the unit.

:idea: Or just make your own cheap (big) 12V power supply and put it in a backpack...?

yeah that could be a good option, onlyh problem with that is thit uses a proprietary plug, but that should be fixable i hope.
