Anyone else a Tony Schwartz fan? As a collector of field recordings myself he`s a personal hero and has managed to collect over 30,000 recordings throughout his life time (So far.)

I was about to create a Tony Schwartz thread but thought "better do a site search" because this must be the place where a Tony Schwartz thread has to exist.

Tony Schwartz was the name that popped in my mind when I first came here. He exchanged recordings with people all over the world in the mid-20th century.

I discovered him through Louis Hardin (better known as Moondog) and was able to find vinyl copies of "New York 19" (Moondog is on that one) and "The New York Taxi Driver". Inspiring stuff.

Capuchin - thank you for this thread - I admit I knew nothing of Tony Schwartz but your links open up another world to explore, one of many that I have discovered here.

I have already checked out some of the stuff including the brilliant "Daisy" ad for Johnson's campaign. Schwartz was clearly a pioneer but also a man driven by many things other than money and that has an awful lot of resonance for those of us at freesound and elsewhere who invest a lot of time and dedication into producing sounds for others to use without seeking reward.

Pullover - thanks for the Moondog connection. I bought Moondog's album [vinyl] when it first came out in the UK 30+ years ago. It was a real oddity of course but I have always been attracted by the outside stuff and loved it.
