I posted these in the intro thread, then thought I'd like to start a thread with just pictures of field recording in progress...would be nice if we could attach these sorts of pics to the geo-tags or comments?

Nice... i need a setup like that.

smile

I actually would like to get a decent handheld audio recording device that stores audio as a wav on a flash drive.

That would be nice. smile

Actually the Edirol R-09 + Sound Professionals Binaurals makes the perfect go-to solution (Zoom H2 and 4 are equivalents). I carry this set-up with me everywhere, in the bottom pic you will note a small camera bag on my left hip...it all fits in there and is now a permanent part of my wardrobe smile

The internal mics on the R-09 are not really up to nature recording (too much noise), but the Sound Professionals transform the kit. It also gives you the ability to experiment with mic placement (in ear, contact mic, boundary mic, XY, space pair etc)...all from a package that is the size of the average digital camera.

Images directly within sound page: That's been my request for a time as well digi.
Nice setup by the way. Are those behringer mics you have going ORTF there, or do they just use the same plastic cases that the behri's do? Also, did you build the suspension for the R0de or is it a common model? I don't have any pistol grip suspensions at this time.

Yes the top two pics are Behringer C2 mics (on their first two outings), I bought them just to see what they are like and for $80 USD why not smile I wanted something I was happy to tape into plastic bags and dangle into the sea.

The suspension is a Rode SM4 ( http://www.rodemic.com/?pagename=Products&product=SM4 ) with a handle screwed into the end.
