First of all I have to say I'm delighted to have found this site. What a great project. I am preparing to upload some sounds now (I have some pretty cool frog chants in mind for my first upload).

My question is this: Is there a way to simply browse through all the sounds? Or by category?

My apologies if this has already been discussed, answered, addressed. Or if the answer is very obvious and I just missed it.

I have to admit I am a bit gui-dyslexic. A lot of "intuitive interfaces" don't seem to be intuitive to me. Maybe it's because I am color-blind, left-handed, and tone deaf.

So what's a tone deaf person doing on a sound site? Well, ever since my second grade teacher told me I had a tin ear I have tuned in to mechanical and naturally occurring sounds. For example, I tend to hear hums and whines and rumbles before my wife does, for example.

I think the best way to look through sounds is go to the random sample (http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/samplesViewRandom.php) look at the tags, clikc a random one and then just keep clicking through tags!

However, if there is a specific tag/sample you are looking for, try the search (http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/searchText.php)

Tags are definitely the way to go for just browsing- they are pretty much the same as categories (but are 'folksonomic' instead of taxonomic.) If you want help looking for specific sounds, please read the search tips.
