I just figured out that mp3 files sound very poor while using the playback on this site directly - after downloading and playback with other tools like xmms, mpg123 etc. it sound very, very much better. Is there an issue with the browser plugin?

thanks

Yes, the playback via the site's applet is intentionally of lower quality. Download the files to get the true sound.

(Mind you, I can rarely detect the difference - but that's me).

Ohh thanks, so this is not a personal issue of myself.

Oh, yeah I started writing that on my sound posts, as I realized it sounds really "crappy" when you have highly produced sounds going through the sites player. I guess when dealing with blips and roaring dirty sounds it might be harder to hear a difference.

But I clearly hear it on all my sounds. But then again, it is a preview of the sound, not the sound itself smile
