Dear Friends,

I have been less active than usual at Freesound because I am on holiday back in Portugal.
The good news is that I found a fairly decent quality AM receiver that I used to have. All I need now is some batteries.

I have been uploading some of my previous recordings from the Twente university radio receiver website.

Also here a request: Anyone finding/recording number stations?

Here is one I found whilst browsing the Twente university site:
8992kHz. Transmits with a USA accent and these are apparently USA airforce coded messages.

Unfortunately looks like a set of batteries had been left inside the receiver. This has been untouched for 10 years or longer and the batteries have burst, causing damage. The receiver no longer works.

I'm playing this way, lot of fun. Micro adjustement in waterfall max zoomin (Twente tuner), to find a constant note and modulate it, or find nearer voices to catch a quasi-choir. (19 samples waiting moderation).

Also thank you for the link to Stockhausen's piece. He was a pionier.
Basically, this is not only an early work featuring radio noises, but effectively also an early use of "sampling" (albeit onto tape), since there are snippets of music recorded from the radio embeded in Stockhausen's piece.

34 = voice distorted on harmonics, like a vocoder

both were taken by displacing the center vertical line of the frequency cursor out of the other two diagonal lines: if there's a strong and wide signal then something weird happens:
