Hello local Freesound, this is my very first dare. I've always wanted to have someone remake the background music in popular songs. I DARE the community that to try to create the background music in "Good Feeling" by Jimi Hendrix. If anyone can create this I will be thrilled and try to make it as best as u can from start to finish. Any takers?

I should intervene here...

First,
recreating (or copying) someone else's music (or part of that music) can be a copyright infringement - unless the music is in the public domain (the copyright holder released it as such or the copyright has expired).
I think it is fair to assume that "Good Feeling" by Jimi Hendrix has a copyright license and is not in the public domain.

@ 18hiltc: Please rephrase the dare asking for something 'similar' or that 'sounds like' rather than recreate or copy.
Basically what I am saying is that the mellody should not be exactly the same, to avoid copyright issues.

Second,
Please remember that Freesound cannot accept musical entries. - it is on the rules on the sample submission screens.
So, the dare entries have to be posted somewhere else (Soundcloud is a good choice). And then post a link on this thread.

I want to believe.

well that sticks because I cant get on sound cloud because of a stupid I boss block and I guess this thread is canceled, what a bummer. Thanks for ruining this request, lol just joking its fine but I still don't get why people are not allowed to make a music on the site or recreate music because I don't want people to make it exact just close and in there own version.

Yah its not really music it just the background sounds and stuff, music is anything that has singing in it or it can also be called a song.

Hi 18hiltc

My intention was not to kill this thread.
This thread is pretty much alive, if you want it to be.

I am very much in support of users proposing dares - as long as it does not involve violating copyright, which was not clear in this case.
I am not familiar with the background sounds you are talking about. A link to a youtube video or similar would help so everyone understands what you are talking about.
Background noise can be recreated (no copyright). For example: You can copyright your recording of a coffee machine but not the sound of a coffee machine. So if someone else records it, plus all the other background noises (or uses sounds from freesound or other legal sources) they can recreate the background sounds you are after.
A soundtrack is different, becaus ethe sequence of notes was created by someone so they have copyright to it. Even if they played it in a guitar and you play it on a piano, that would be wrong from a copyright point of view.

As for your soundcloud issues. OTher people are still free to post their entries into soundcloud, right? That does not affect them, as far as I can see.
If what you are after really is the non-musical part of that track then it would be ok to post on Freesound. Please be very clear on your post what you are asking for, as musical entries will be rejected by the moderators.

If you ned any help you can PM me and then I help you fix the post so that the dare is good to go.
Then you should correct the first post on this thread and that is it.
I can't guarantee how many participants you will get, though. Dares are often hit and miss...

I want to believe.

Ok sorry about the misunderstanding but when I mean the background music from start to finish from Jimi Hendrix "Good Feeling" and of course make it as good as u can but not to close to avoid copyright. Is this allowed.

Since of the block I cant go on YouTube there's a lot of stuff I cant do I got lucky with free sound and just type on YouTube Jimi Hendrix Good Feeling that way u know what I mean.

It would be nice if we can recreate the thread.

I think you should PM me. Because first it was background music then it was background sounds, now you seem to be talking about music again.
If you can't access the soundcloud website, then try CCMixter, webarchive or bandcamp.
Ultimately people could also post the file to some sort of file sharing website or service (such as dropbox).
If you can't access any of these, you will not have a chance to check people's submissions to this dare. - Which I guess would mean the dare is off.

Musical pieces will not be allowed on Freesound, so you cannot run a dare that asks people to upload those here as the mods will reject them.

If still want to run this dare I am happy to discuss with you over PM and see if we can find a solution.

I want to believe.
