Dear Participants

What a joy it is to run these Dares !
The joy of participating (cut short this time by a computer virus)
The joy of listening to your entries. Always so diverse, if you pardon the pun! But each great in its own way.
The joy of voting.... no! voting is no joy at all! It's always a dliema!
The joy of seeing your votes and see how different pieces appeal to different people and how you justify your choices.
And, last but certainly not least, the joy of commenting and reading other people's comments.

Now, without further delay.... THE RESULTS

Votes (in order of appearance)
mojomills: 19
Kyester: 17
thatjeffcarter: 14
jgeralyn: 23,5 (yes... twenty three and a half!... read the naughy mentions and you will see why!)
escortmarius: 10,5 (as above)
afleetingspeck: 21

Bonus points (and a short explanation)
mojomills: 0 - no pairs of opposng samples were used.
Kyester: 1 - long/short samples. Many samples, but same opposing concepts, so only 1 point.
thatjeffcarter: 2 - For the sample pairs and the tittle. Thanks to Jgeralyn for suggesting. Spot on!
jgeralyn: 4 - Great choice of samples and spot on in pairing them up.
escortmarius: 0,5 - Used short/long samples BUT not paired up: there are more short than long. Still gets half a point.
afleetingspeck: 7 - Clever! Only 5 pairs of samples used, but 2 are described as 2 different types of opposite concepts. I say it counts!

FINAL RESULTS:
afleetingspeck is the winner with 28 points !!!!
followed by
jgeralyn just a whisker away with 27,5 points !!
mojomills gets 19 points
Kyster gets 18 points
thatjeffcarter gets 16 points
escortmarius gets 11 points

SPECIAL MENTIONS:
A great big welcome to mojomills on his first dare!

NAUGHTY MENTIONS:
Escortmarius and afleetingspeck for giving tied scores to some pieces.
Guys, this has forced me to adjust the scores slightly.
Each of us was supposed to give out 5,4,3,2,1 points. Means in total we each had 15 points to give away. Now, if you give instead 5,4,4,2,2, it means you are giving 17 points, so you would have a greater impact on the final scores than everyone else (unfair!)
So, I adjusted your votes to 5, 3.5, 3.5, 1.5, 1.5 instead.
AND you get a naughty mention for the extra trouble you caused me!

That's it folks, don't agonize over the scores. It is just for fun anyway smile
Hope you all did have fun and come back for more Dares.

I want to believe.

LOL, sorry for making life harder for you, sir! I didn't realize the summation was going to 17 instead of 15 (something I'll keep in mind from on).
Only one thing I am confused about is the samples used by mojomills. There were quite a few opposite ones, weren't there? Like jazz/irish/metal/heavenly moans/*expletive* etc? Wouldn't those count as points? Just curious.
Regardless of the points, I'd like to welcome everyone back to the dares. This new season promises newer concepts, and I'm loving it already! Extremely diverse entries for this particular one, and I've seen that many of us have gotten good feedback/comments from others. Still strong as a community, us!

They would have. Only they were not paired up as opposites.... The bonus points were for each opposite pair. If you look at mojomills sample list, his samples are not paired up. A technicallity.

I want to believe.

Oke, then I could have a lot more points just by making pairs of the samples, right??
Shame I didnt realise this before....

Record all the crap you can!! doesnt matter if it sounds like shit.

Shame I didnt realise this before....

Don't be mad.
Well, it adds a bit of random. - not really random as it WAS in the rules.
Let me explain...
I don't think we should ever disqualify anyone in the dares. Unless they don't vote. That is a must.
But if people submit an entry, they would have to be really off-mark to be disqualified.
Instead, I am introducing the concept of bonus points to reward those who I think really got the concept of the dare.

mojomills entry is a great example. Fantastic track. Awesome. But he did not pair up his samples sad
I think the concept of contrasting styles was a great idea. I also think it was really well achieved. But he got nill bonus points.

As with most things on the dares. If I realize people don't like it I will stop doing it.
So, if you don't like the idea of bonus points, let me know. I always listen to feedback.

I want to believe.

No no, im not mad, no hard feelings!!
I just didnt realise that I could have more points, by pairing up samples in more ways than one.
Every dare is different, thanx for that!!
But sometimes the "assignment" is not really clear, but maybe thats just the point.............

And afleetingspeck, very nice work!!!! hip hip houra! you won THE GOLD MEDAL! smile

I could probably argue that I should have more points since I paired my 4 samples in multiple ways

Blue/elemental/long/ related to nature
Orange/human/short/ technological

but I'm content

I probably only put it at the link to my blog.
No worry. I'm not really in it for the points.
