It was a composition using ONLY sounds from the pack, that's the point, with minor manipulation as cut copy paste, some compression etc.

:-\ sorry

Try again?

Cheers!

Sorry your entry doesn't qualify mikeman, but it's a nice example of how the caxiaforum pack will be useful outside of the dare5 context!

Thanks for sharing this with us and welcome to freesound! grin

Hi boys and girls,

I have just uploaded my entry here :

http://ccmixter.org/media/people/WIM

Initially I tried to use one sample from each file in the sample pack, but I'm afraid I lost some on the way.

I hadn't listened to the other entries just until now. Certainly comparing to Thanos' entry, it's very interesting to hear how some parts in the recordings immediately seem to jump out and get chosen to work with.

This was great fun, but I think I need a holiday now, before I become completely addicted to this...

Greetings !

Bram

The Rules post says:

>> 5. deadline is before the end of 2006, worldwide

So 31 Dec is the new deadline, right? Not 15 Dec, as stated earlier in this thread?

Because I just found out about the contest, but I def. want to put something together ...

(<== Slacking off on lurking the forums ... )

(PS: Speaking of lurking: First post! Wu-Hu!)

So what exactly can we do with the samples

does, cutting/pasting mean I can take a bit of a sample and use ?

what effects. reverb, delay what are the limits ?

thanks

Yeah, I'd like to time stretch some of these samples. Will that still be valid for the competition?

just cutting and pasting + volume + pan + basic stuff like compressor/eq/..., please.
no "creative effects", nope, not even timestretch. smile

I want to heard the original material.

Hey I just wondered...

With basic editing using stuff like cut-paste-pitch you can do practically anything. I remember doing sth for soulseek recs about 2 years ago, I did snares, shakers, kicks, bass, leads, etc and everything just from a single sound using Soundforge, and then sequencing on Reason. It's not hard at all, I think u guys know.

I haven't heard the samples yet but I'd like to know how far can I go editing with just the cut-paste thingy (timestretch can be achieved with patience). For now I'll try and do sth simple, I'll be waiting for your reply.

Awesome idea!!

Kicks teh butt!!

Peace.

I was wondering about cut & paste...

Can I cut a file into several pieces and rearrange it, not even using the entire file?

Is there a certain amount of files that must be used?
How long should the remix be?

I probably won't have time to do this one. I read that the deadline is 12/15 and it's already 12/12. I just now received an email telling me about it.

Happy Holidays!!!
