Most of the files I've downloaded here refuse to open in either WordPad Sound Editor or Audacity. I keep getting error messages that say:

"WavePad could not open the file xxxx.wav properly. It may be corrupted or an unsupported format."

In Audacity it'll simply say: Error: mismatched tag at line 82

Any ideas about how I can get around this problem?

Well, if you're downloading with Firefox, it seems there has been or still is a bug in Firefox's "Save As..." functionality. For some odd reason, instead of downloading soundfile, it downloads the actual php page that is supposed to fetch you the sound. Try downloading with another browser, such as Opera to see if that works.

Thanks, I'll try that.
