I cannot download anything off the site! The download link simply isn't there. It shows how many downloads there has been of the file, comments, and Find Similar file links and that is all!

I am fully logged in and using firefox and have checked the FAQ for help but I do not understand!

Please help!

That link appears to do nothing exept bring up a small banner which says "After downloading/listening please leave your comment or rate this sound" and nothing else. When I right click on it it just allows me to save the image of the download button and that's it.

Strangely when I go to the section where it tells you who has downloaded it my name does appear, but I have not authaurised any download or specified where it should be placed on my computer and the file does not appear anywhere when I do a searh of my computer.

I'm sorry if I'm missing something really obvious here but nothing has downloaded onto my machine and the link justt doesnt seem to work.

I am using FF, too. Ver 2.0.0.8. My right-click menu shows the "save image as", but it also shows "save link as..." among other things. What about add-ons? Do you have any add-ons? If you have NoScript or something similar, you might want to make sure that freesound is white-listed. Do you use a proxy? Some proxys have script blocking which might be an issue.

I figuered out that if you right click the download icon and press "save link as" it will open the file in a new window and start buffing... When the buffing is complete you can save it to the harddisc. But I don't understand why it must be that complicated. A little hint to the admin

You definitely have SOMETHING installed on your computer that is being annoying to you. Me, I click the link (left) and it just pops up the regular "save file as" dialog in firefox...

I'm having the same kind of download problem.

I'm using Firefox on a Linux computer .
The pack downloads as a .zip of wav files into my tmp folder from where I can send it to my chosen destination.... but that's an awful lot of space in .wav form. Single files just seem to play in a Firefox window, but I can't see if they have actually downloaded. There's no dialogue of any sort, and theyre not in tmp or on the desktop.
Any ideas?

Thanks, this is a treasurehouse of fun samples!

Exact same issue
no download button...finally after 30 min of searching found FAQ and this blog....then had to open link in big window and right click the download logo (uppper right) and click save link as...took a 5 minutes to download wav file

I hate to complain about a great FREE resource but this was not user friendly....many of my students have gotten frustrated and just given up.

Also...after searching oncee...on the second time...the search feature often just freezes and you cant type in it...you must go to the previous search

anyway...great stuff...thank you

You must be logged in to download files: if you are logged out by mistake, the "Save As.../Save Link As..." option will not appear in the right-click menu.

if you use Microsoft IE for download:

Please google for the Item: Switching off the content advisor.

It's a known problem unter Windows XP. The system sets a Password and you can't switch off
the Content Advisor. So you dont't get the item " save as..." in the download window.

I hope I could help someone.

I was having download issues until I read this thread. Right clicking the [download] icon and then left clicking is how it's done in Internet Explorer 8.

Thanks for the advice posters!
