Some of my samples are downloaded quiet a lot without receiving any comment or rating, which I think is a pity.
I would like to see this obligatory after download if possible anyway, maybe that users get a reminder like in ebay: "x samples not rated yet"

Here I would like to call on everyone to please rate and comment downloaded samples!

Thanx

Comment and rating are not necessary, it is a voluntary act. But, the world just looks a bit better if people are grateful or friendly!

We've talked about this before. One problem with the sample comments is that you can't follow any attempt at conversation. I personally try to reply to each and every comment made, but I have no idea if the commenters ever revisit the page to read it. So what's in it for a commenter? They can't ask a question about a sample, there's no comment-mentality here (like there is for example on deviantART), because you don't get informed if the uploader ever replied to your message.
If you want people commenting more, then we need a decent comment system, where you get notified of replies to your comments. Rather than forcing them to comment. That would only lead to comments like "cool" or "lame" or "kjshdfj". Would you want those comments or would you want people actually saying something useful?

So true. It is very hard to find which sample is commented and which isn't wuthout having to scroll through the whole list.
So, a clear request now is to get notified if someone comments on a sample would be great!

I'm still disappointed about people not rating after download, although freesound already comes up with a red marked text to do so.
Please dear user, be decent and tak a little of your time to rate the sample, even if you think it's bad. THANK YOU

I have a few suggestions to make here:

1. Maybe users could be automatically rated by the rate at which they rate the sounds they download (no pun intended)?

2. Or maybe users should be enforced to rate somewhere between 20% and 50% of the sounds they download - if a user lags behind, he/she's barred from further downloads until some number of previously downloaded sounds are rated.

3. My most useful suggestion for the web master is to change the current rating scheme so that it doesn't reload the page. Rather, Javascript should be used to update the rating bar. Also, it would be easier to rate if it only was to click on of the stars (mouseover previews if the user hasn't rated so yet). That way, it would reduce the number of clicks requied by half, and save the user's time as he/she doesn't have to wait for the page to reload.

4. If #3 is implemented, it would be a snap to rate, so I don't see any reason why users shouldn't be forced to rate before the download link is shown.
