Hi All,

I am trying to upload my first sound through Applet. I granted Applet acesss, I saw my volume and all my files on the screen via the FTP connection. I then located the sound file in question, highlighted it and then pressed "Connect." A new little window came up and it showed my username but the password window was empty. I tried to fill in the password box but it wouldn't let me type anything. I tried checking and unchecking the "Passive" option (I don't even know what it does) but it didn't make a difference. Can anyone tell me why I cannot type my password in? I am using a Mac, running 10.4.8. Firefox is my browser. Thanks, Tyler

You could try making sure your Java is up to date, though I'm not sure how that's done on a Mac. Other than that, leave the "passive" button as it is. All you do is click connect, type in the password you use to sign in on Freesound, and click ok. Then it should connect. Next you highlight which file you want to upload, and click the arrow in the middle that goes from left to right. A dialog should come up that tells you how much of the file you have uploaded. Next you click "describe" where it says "describe your files". Pretty self explanatory from there. Good luck!

I am still having trouble. I checked my Java and I am running the latest version. I still cannot connect through Applet because the "password" window does not permit me to type anything. Then I tried the last option which was recommended in the article you referred me to which was to choose "Connect to Server" on my Mac. I did as the instructions directed me to do. However, after typing in my Freesound username and password and then pressing "Connect", after 20 seconds of waiting, a little window popped up showing the correct FTP address but stating, "connection was interrupted" and so again, I was not able to connect. I do not know what this is happening. Any other suggestions? Thank you, Tyler
