Binaural recording of a freight train passing from right to left, decelerating as it comes into town. The mic is about 20 feet from the tracks. This was my first attempt at recording a train with my mic setup and I obviously need to pull the gain down a bit. But I thought I would throw this up into cyberspace anyway, perhaps there is some segment of this that someone might be able to use. I go to this spot once a month for a meeting, so I will try it again next month.

Re: portability, my next step is to remove the stick and replace it with something I can attach to a tripod. Regarding the weight, it really isn't that bad in a backpack. I actually was trying to simulate the mass of a head.

Re: explaining it to the police, most places I record are out in the boonies so I don't expect I will encounter any police. Also the color and texture makes it blend in quite well in many environments.
