The story of coach and how it became a leading brand
In 1941 Coach was founded as a family-run workshop based in a loft on Manhattans 34th street, as a partnership called the Gail Leather Products. Gail Leather Products began as a family-owned business, with six leather workers who made leather wallets and billfolds by hand.
In 1951 the Horse and Carriage Logo Premieres as there first catalog comes out.
In 1961 Fashion Designer Bonnie Cashin Joins Coach. And In 1962 Bonnie Cashin’s First Collection, Called Cashin-Carry, Debuts.
Then in 1973, The iconic Coach Duffle Sac Becomes a instant success.
But not until 1974 does the Coach Signature Hangtag first appear across the entire handbag product line.
In 1979 Chairman and CEO Lew Frankfort joins coach as Vice President of new business development.
By the Early 1980’s. Deparment stores, Macy’s, Dillards & Nordstrom were selling all the coach bags that the company could produce. But the Company wanted to get out of just the department store setting so they began a mail order business and Opened the first flagship store on Madison avenue in new york city.
In 1992 They launched there outerwear collection.
Plus In 1996 Fashion Designer Reed Krakoff joins coach
and In 1998 they launches there Watch collection
In 1999 they Launched there website and they launched there footwear collection
Then in 2000 Coach becomes a public company trading as COH and they introduce there Hampton collection
but in 2001 coach introduces signature collection and there jewelery collection
they opened there first flagship store in japan in 2002
launched there sunwear and optical collection in 2003
opened first flagship stores in Taiwan and Korea in 2006
2007 was the year they launched their first fragrance
but 2008 was a big year for them when they opened their hong kong flagship store, introduced their madison collection & established the coach foundation
plus the next year 2009 was also big for them when they released their poppy collection, joined facebook & twitter, and introduced their men’s fragrance
in 2011 they celebrated their 70th anniversary
in 2013 they partnered with Mattel and got their own barbie doll
