A 500Hz sine tone played four times for 0.5 seconds each with 0.5 seconds between each tone. I paste this sample to the beginning and end of sounds if I need to keep them in synch with other sounds that I am combining on different tracks or with video. That makes it easy to get the sounds in synch in the first place and makes it obvious to notice as I am editing if I have accidentally gotten them out of synch. When the editing is over, I cut the tones off from each end before the final output.
