A few cars are waiting at the traffic light on the other side of the road while I am rolling a cigarette. I have my Edirol-R09 in the inside pocket of my jacket, recording everything. One of the drivers is in terrible need of cigarette paper and tries to get my attention (in dutch: "he, hallo, meneer!"). The traffic light turns green, this driver still waiting for me. The drivers in the other cars waiting behind him become annoyed and start to honk. When finally all the cars have passed this car waiting for me, it makes a U turn to my side of the road. I ask the driver if he's lost (In dutch: "de weg kwijt?") and the driver replies: "no, not lost, can I have some cigarette paper, please" (In dutch: nee, niet de weg kwijt, mag ik een paar vloetjes van u alstublieft?). It ends with him grumbling about these honking other drivers and then he continues the conversation he was already having with his cellphone. His car is a '92 Peugeot 405 as I heard in the cellphone conversation that followed. You also hear other traffic bouncing on the edge of the bridge over which the road leads at this place where I was rolling my cigarette. Recorded in Amsterdam on 27Th of August 2006 at night about 11:30 pm.
