Recording of some sort of wood being broken with something like a hammer, pieces then falling onto other pieces of wood and possibly a concrete floor of a closed garage. Has a lot of natural room reverberation. Was originally recorded for smashing sound effects for a radio theater play. Cannot remember the mic used, perhaps SM-58, or a small diaphragm condenser; but it probably went through a Sytek pre into a Gadget Labs Wav824 interface.

I never would have guessed that this humble little clip (and the similar sounds in this pack) would have been so useful... but its amazing how far-reaching the uses are. I especially like the Spiderman stop-motion clips all over the web, though this sound added very little to that effort. It makes me guess there might be a need for more sounds like this to be recorded and posted, but I haven't scoured freesound to see how many others sound similar to this.

Amazing recording. Using it for the sound of a bar stool hitting the human head and breaking. Thank You for uploading!
