A very naive approach to emulating the "astrogator" sound heard in many bridge scenes of the original series of Star Trek.
While it does capture some of the idea of that sound effect, it takes an unsophisticated approach to get there, adding some modulated tones with envelope shaping. It's too clean, misses a lot of the complexity of the original, and isn't all that interesting. I post it here primarily for comparison purposes. Ultimately, this is a very difficult sound effect to recreate from scratch, and this is the kind of thing you might come up with even with hours of work -- still falling short of the goal.
I've posted another called "MultiAstrogator_STTOS_recreated.wav" that takes a more sophisticated approach, but still doesn't sound like the original. I think this would make a great "dare" for sound design experts. :-)
