On a tree-lined section of a hiking/biking/jogging trail, you can hear insects and birds wake up in the morning. Also, you can hear cars pass on a nearby road, navy jets pass overhead in the distance (interesting juxtaposition of nature and civilization), and mosquitoes dive-bomb the microphone. This was the last recording of the morning, and I was fairly eaten up by all of the mosquitoes, so you can hear me shuffling my feet a little bit too. However, these insects are amazing! As the chirp cycle runs down, sometimes it sounds like the insects are motors that cut off. It's worth hearing my shuffling feet to hear those weird insects. This recording was made at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, VA, USA on the morning of 21 August 2007 with a Zoom H4. Light post-production work done in Peak.
