Nace en 1952 y es la única red de trolebuses en Chile. Es la segunda más antigua de Sudamérica. En 1982 pasa a manos privadas, pero sus orígenes son estatales. Desde el año 2007 el sistema de transporte es dirigido por Trolebuses de Chile S. A. [sonido de sistema de arranque eléctrico]
