This sound was made using Audacity. I recorded myself blowing into my microphone for a few seconds. Then, I duplicated the sound in Audacity, moved the second track to the side a little, so the sounds were louder and not quite occurring at the same time. I also panned the first track more on the left and the second one more on the right so it feels like there is wind all around. I applied the fade out effect on both the tracks. I added Bass and Treble (mostly bass) on the first track to make the wind sound more realistic, louder and deeper (like a storm coming).
I repeated the tracks so the sound would last longer : we can hear two bursts of wind thanks to the first track and I arranged the second one so the sound would be constant and wouldn't stop – like a background noise.
I added a pluck which I gave a low tonality to and set on ending abruptly, then I modified it by adding some bass onto it. I changed the pitch, making it sound like a thud, short and low, without any trembling to it. I thought it sounded like a knock on a door, so I repeated it by duplicating the track. I arranged the sounds so they didn’t happen at the same time and made sure they didn’t have a regular pattern. In the end, it sounds like someone knocking three times on a door during a windy night.
