This would perfectly match a sound in a science fiction or asylum video game that would be played when selecting a menu option, for example. The 3D sound effect created by the changed made onto the audio file gives a very immersive feeling and could be used in a very interactive video game app. Best with headphones.
This audio file was created from two different recording that I did. The first one of a lighter that goes on and the second was the sound of a metallic gong. First of all, I cut out the sound tracks to isolate the very precise sound that I wanted to keep. I treated both of the sounds separately before merging them together.
For the lighter’s audio, I put a light reverb effect, then I added a fade-out effect before creating a slight amplification.
The gong’s track was first reversed, just like on the lighter’s I added a reverberation effect and to finish a fade-in effect was used.
I modified both tracks so that the first one would only be played on the left side of the headphones, and the second track can only be heard on the right side. With the fade-in and fade-out effects, this creates a fluidity of the sound thought the ears and would give a very modern and immersive feel to this audio file.
To finish this sound, I readjusted the two tracks so that it starts with the changed lighter’s sound and ends fluidly with the modified gong’s sound.
